About Us

20+ Years Teaching English

Experienced Native Teachers.

Nature, in the common sense, refers to essences unchanged by man; space, the air, the river, the leaf. Art is applied to the mixture of his will with the same things, as in a house, a canal, a statue, a picture.

But his operations taken together are so insignificant, a little chipping, baking, patching, and washing, that in an impression so grand as that of the world on the human mind, they do not vary the result.

Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable. We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man’s condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put.

Sonia – owner

Now teaching for more than 15 years (CELTA and Masters in Sociology), Sonia joined MovingOn Courses back in 2006 as a summer teacher. Despite living and working all the time since then with Gavin, she is very happy and fulfilled.  She has worked in many parts of the globe including Japan, Spain, and the Middle East, but chosen to make her native Northern Ireland the place for you to experience this special immersion course.   Sonia appreciates how challenging it is to learn a language, and enjoys trying new things (talent not necessary) as her dabbling in various musical instruments shows.  What most motivates her is seeing adult students overcome their fear of speaking English, and the confidence that this gives them in many aspects of their life.  Living with students on the course, and being a part of their lives during what is often  a pivotal point in their lives, is a rich and rewarding experience that she feels privileged to be part of.  Sonia’s classroom atmosphere is warm and interactive, and she does the cooking on the course so it wise not to upset her.

Sonia’s mother

A retired nurse, mother, and grandmother with an enduring work ethic that doesn’t let her sit still for long.  She is also Sonia’s mother, sometimes cooks, and drives on our study trips.  Although she is not officially a teacher, you can learn a lot about Irish culture and humour from her.  She has travelled a lot but now prefers to stay closer to home, living independently about an hours’ drive away.  When she has a rare evening off, she enjoys a glass of port and copious amounts of white chocolate. You’ll surely meet her when you stay with us.  Known for her frank and honest conversations, and infectious smile, many students affectionately call her their “Irish Grandma”.
