The problem

Does this sound familiar?

  • The 3pm call

You understood everything. You even had the best idea in the room. But by the time you translate it in your head, someone else already said it.

  • The client dinner

You laugh when everyone laughs — not because you got the joke. For two hours, you’re the quietest person at the table.

  • The interview in English

You were the most qualified candidate in the room. You leave knowing perfectly well they never noticed.

Everywhere else, you’re the expert. In English, you sound junior. And that gap isn’t about competence — it’s just the language.

One minute inside a real immersion day

No actors, no script. This is what a day at MovingOn actually looks like — the lessons, the table, the coast.

The diagnosis

It’s not on you. No one ever made you actually speak.

You’ve done the evening classes. You’ve downloaded the app. Maybe even a study holiday. Thousands spent, hundreds of hours — and the result is always the same: you read well, you understand almost everything, you write decently. But the moment you have to open your mouth, your brain shuts off.

The reason is simpler than you think: you’ve never spent enough consecutive time forced to speak English. Never. Not once.

  • Evening classes. Three hours a week. The other 165 you spend in your own language.

  • The app on your phone. Makes you feel productive on the train. Never once put you in front of a real person waiting for your answer.

  • The classic study holiday. A class of twelve, often half of them speak your language. Lessons in the morning, drinks in your own language by the afternoon.

English isn’t a bill you can keep postponing. It’s a ceiling over your career — and it gets lower every year you wait.

The mechanism

You’re not here to study English. You’re here to live it.

In Bangor, on the coast of Northern Ireland, you live in the house with Gavin and Sonia. They’re not hired teachers — they own the school. You eat with them, go out with them, talk with them. One rule, non-negotiable: English, always.

  • Breakfast together. The day’s first conversation, before the first coffee.

  • Lesson. Max 4 students. Not “up to”, not “usually”. Max 4.

  • Lunch at the table, home-cooked. You talk.

  • Out. Coast, town, market, castle, pub. Always with a teacher alongside.

  • Family dinner. The part almost no one expects — and everyone talks about after.

  • Still talking. Until you decide it’s time for bed.

Dinner at the table with teachers Students out together in Bangor

Each block is one hour of the day. Lit up means: you’re actually speaking English with a person.

Language app≈ 0.25 hrs/day
Evening classes≈ 2 hrs, twice a week
Classic study holiday≈ 4 hrs/day
MovingOn · Full immersion≈ 15 hrs/day

Two weeks here is worth roughly two years of evening classes. That’s not marketing — it’s arithmetic.

This isn’t for everyone. It shouldn’t be.

Not for people chasing a certificate — we don’t prep for exams here. Not for the cheapest option out there — we’re not it, and we don’t want to be. Not for anyone under 25 — this is a group of adults, not a study holiday. And the first 48 hours are genuinely hard.

But if you’ve tried everything else and you’re tired of starting over, you’re exactly who this course is for.

The real questions

What people ask before booking

My level is too low.

The most common objection, and almost always false. If you’re reading this page, you already have the words. What you’re missing is the habit of using them under pressure. We work from A2 up, and classes of four exist for exactly this reason: no one can hide, and no one gets left behind.

I don’t have time.

Two weeks. Less time than you’ve already spent on courses that didn’t work, and concentrated instead of spread over years. Many people come for just one week — tell us how much time you have and we’ll tell you what’s realistic.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your dates and length of stay. Everything’s included: room, all meals, lessons and activities. No extras, no hidden costs. Message us on WhatsApp with the dates you’re thinking of and we’ll give you the exact number, no back and forth.

What if I don’t improve?

The mechanism doesn’t rely on your motivation — that’s the important part. It relies on the fact that for two weeks, there’s no “switch back to my language” button. You don’t need discipline. You just need to be here.

I’m embarrassed to speak.

We know — it’s exactly why we cap it at four. There’s no classroom to embarrass yourself in front of. There’s a table, with people going through the exact same thing.

I don’t want to live with strangers.

Neither did our students. Within 48 hours they stop being strangers — it’s the part almost no one expects, and nearly everyone talks about afterwards. Your room stays yours and private, regardless.

Will there be people from my own country?

The group is small and international. And the English rule applies between students too: even if someone shared your language, you’d still speak English together. No exceptions, not even at dinner.

The next step

Next year, you can tell the same story again. Or not.
